Portage Country Club – Portage, WI
Holes: 18 Par: 72 Yardage: 6,356 Architect: Art Johnson
Portage Country Club, offers 18 holes of challenging golf, located on the shores of beautiful Swan Lake.
Portage Golf Club can be one of the most interesting and eclectic courses you’ll play, as well as possibly one of the toughest. Originally opened in 1906 and updated by Art Johnson in 1988 adding the second 9 holes.
Portage GC is a course that is visually challenging as well as challenging to play. With abundant wildlife, ponds and Swan Lake looking as if they were drawn in by an artist, this is a course you’ll tell your friends about, though you may not tell them your score.
The rolling terrain provides subtle but tricky undulations in the greens and fairways as well as the occasional double-tiered green. One of the most memorable holes for both its level of difficulty and the scenery is Number 2, a short par 3, overlooking Swan Lake with the green against the shoreline.
